Berita 24 English - On Wednesday, Indonesian President Joko Widodo began a visit to Ukraine with the goal of assisting in the resumption of peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and looking into options for facilitating grain exports to international markets.

According to the Indonesian presidential website, President Widodo, also known as Jokowi, and his wife travelled by train to the Ukrainian city of Kyiv.

The Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG), established to confront the threat of starvation and destitution caused by the war in Ukraine, is comprised of six international leaders, including Jokowi, the head of the Group of 20 (G20) countries.

With the Ukraine crisis generating food and energy shortages that have fueled inflation in several nations, he has stated that he is dedicated to addressing rising food and energy prices.

Ukraine had been one of Indonesia's major wheat suppliers prior to the war.

Before heading to Russia to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Jokowi will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. The Indonesian president promised to persuade Putin to accept a cease-fire.
