Berita 24 English - Nio is a Chinese company that makes electric cars. In September, it plans to open its first overseas plant to make power products for the European market.

Nio said in a statement late Friday that the plant in Pest, Hungary, will develop and make power products like battery-swapping stations for customers in Europe.

Nio will speed up the building of battery swapping stations in Europe so that it can sell more cars in countries like Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark in the second half of this year.

A statement from Nio on Monday said that the company is also working with oil giant Shell PLC to build battery swapping stations around the world, starting in China and Europe this year. Shell will let Nio users use its charging network in Europe, the company said.

Nio began sending ES8s to Norway in 2021, and the company has opened a showroom in Oslo.

The company has been promoting its after-sales services, such as its showrooms in the middle of cities and its battery service networks, as important ways to stay ahead of the competition.

Nio said it wanted to set up 4,000 battery swapping stations around the world, with a quarter of them being outside of China.

More Startups in China that make electric vehicles (EVs) and batteries are expanding their presence in markets around the world where demand for EVs and energy storage is growing.

In June, the Chinese battery company Gotion High Tech Co. said it planned to move a third of its production capacity outside of China by 2025. The company's first overseas battery plant will be built in Gottingen, Germany, and construction will start there by the end of the year.
