Berita 24 English -  Norway promised 1 billion euros ($1.04 billion) on Friday in support of Ukraine's self-defense, assistance for those in need, and rehabilitation following Russia's incursion.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere stated during a press conference in Kyiv alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that Norway wished to show its support for Ukraine's struggle for survival.

"I'm here to emphasise that the struggle of Ukraine extends beyond its borders. We're going to teach our kids some fundamental truths about the world in this. The fate of your neighbour is at stake, as is the security of Europe "said he.

In order to support your nation and its citizens for the remainder of 2022 and into 2023, we will pledge 1 billion euros. "This conflict violates international law. We have the right to assist you in self-defense, and you have the right to self-defense."

When asked if Norway would be willing to boost gas supplies to Europe, Stoere responded that the country was currently producing gas "at its maximum" but would still make every effort to supply gas.

According to Zelenskiy, continued pressure on Russia is necessary to bring the war to a close.

In reference to a strike early on Friday on an apartment building near Odesa, where Ukrainian officials claim at least 16 people were killed, he said that Russia had used a Soviet-era Kh-22 missile designed to hit aircraft carriers or other massive structures to hit a standard nine-story building.

Russian officials deny targeting civilians. When asked on Friday if Russia had attacked the apartment complex in Serhiivka, a resort area, a Kremlin official responded, "I would like to remind you of the president's statements that the Russian Armed Forces do not work with civilian targets."
