Berita 24 English - A Chinese ministry spokeswoman announced on Thursday that Indonesian President Joko Widodo would go to China from July 25 to 26. He will be the first foreign head of state to visit Beijing alone in two years outside of the Winter Olympics.

Wang Wenbin announced at a routine media briefing that Widodo has received an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping for the trip.

Wang stated that Widodo would meet with Premier Li Keqiang and President Xi for in-depth discussions.

Bali, Indonesia, will play home to this year's G20 leaders conference from November 15 to 16. Indonesia is holding the G20 president.

"The Indonesian President can interact directly with the Chinese leadership when he travels to China," Wang said.

Beijing has not personally hosted any foreign leaders since severe border controls were implemented in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, save from the Winter Olympics.
